Steps listed by the GDT
- Prepare the requirements (see the document list below).
- Visit the Coordination and Follow-up Department in the Mubarak Al-Kabeer area so the request can be audited.
- After the request is signed, visit the General Traffic Department, office of the Assistant General Director for the Planning and Traffic Research office. The Gulf license is withdrawn there.

- The license being replaced
- A "patent" from the country of the license being replaced (the GDT's wording)
- Copy of the original work permit, or an employer certificate for government-sector staff
- Copy of your Civil ID
- Two photos with a blue background, size 4x6
- A replacement for a damaged or lost driving license, where applicable
