Renew or replace your license

How to Renew a Driving License in Kuwait

Renewing a driving license in Kuwait is a short paperwork job: a request form, photos and ID copies, with extra employer signatures for non-Kuwaitis who work for companies.

The renewal fee depends on the license and its expiry date: check it with the GDT. Bring everything in one go to avoid a second trip.

If your card has been lost or damaged instead, follow Lost or damaged license. If you still hold a learner's permit, see Renew learner's license.

What to prepare

  1. Get the renewal request (the official form is available below).
  2. Print and complete it. Non-Kuwaitis who work in companies or institutions need their employer's signature on the request.
  3. Gather your documents (listed below) and take them to the GDT.
  4. Pay the fee that applies to your license and its expiry date.

For non-Kuwaitis who work in companies and institutions, yes: the printed renewal request needs the employer's signature.

My driving licence has expired: can I still renew it?

The GDT page does not state a grace period or a penalty. The fee depends on the license expiration, so confirm the exact cost with the GDT before you go.
